The F.A.Q. is the list of Frequently Asked Questions. This list generally includes 90% of the questions we are asked. So this is a very good place to begin looking when you have a question.
By definition, this list is constantly being updated with additional questions and answers. The F.A.Q. contained in this help file is the list at the time this version of the program was created. The most up-to-date copy is available at our web site. If you have an internet connection, we suggest you go there instead of reading the F.A.Q. here.
You can access the F.A.Q. from the program but selecting Help, F.A.Q.

Where is the title page?
The title page is just the first page of your script, nothing special. Just type it in. (After all, why should it be any different?)
Why will the cursor suddenly change to an hourglass?
Screen Writer Studio reformats in the background as you edit. However, sometimes an action you take, such as Page Down, will take the part of the script shown in the window, past the correctly formatted portion of the script. When this happens, the cursor will change to an hourglass and you will not be able to do anything until that part of the script is formatted and the cursor returns to the standard I-beam shape.
Why does outline view not break on the standard page breaks?
Outline view was designed to view the script as a complete whole, not as a series of pages. When it prints it does have to break on pages but because outline view can fit more lines on a page and it is not meant to be used for viewing the final page breaks, it prints each page in a more compact way.
How can I force a reformat of the entire script?
This should never be necessary. If it is, you have found a bug and please e-mail us the script before the forced reformat so we can find out what is wrong. That said, if you want to force a reformat, go to Format, Edit Script Format, and then press OK. The entire script will then be reformatted.
Why does it reformat a script I just read in?
There are two reasons it will do this. First, if the version of Screen Writer Studio that saved this script was a different version, newer or older, then the script will be reformatted. This is done in case the formatting rules changed between versions. Second, formatting breaks are made according to the printer font (it is more critical than the screen font). If the printer font on your current computer is different from the printer font on the computer that saved the script, then the script will be reformatted.
I want to change the default font to Courier Old (or something else)
You need to do it paragraph style by paragraph style. We could not think of a clean way to present one place to change the font in the user interface.
What is the caret, what is the cursor?
The cursor is the mouse pointer. It is usually an arrow or an I-Beam when over the text. It is controlled by the mouse. The caret is the blinking bar that is in the text at the point where you are editing. It can be placed by clicking the mouse or moved by the cursor keys.
Where do I set the paper type for the printer?
This is done in Format, Edit Script Format, Paper. It is not done in File, Printer Setup. Printer Setup is used to select the default printer.
