You will want to select text to either delete, copy, move or change a block of text. You can select text with either the mouse or the keyboard.
· With the mouse, click the mouse at one end of the section you wish to select, and release it. Then go to the other end, and hold down the Shift key and click and release again. The text is now selected.
· With the mouse, click but do not release the mouse at one end of the section you wish to select. Move the mouse to the other end. Release the mouse. The text is now selected.
· Move the mouse to the left of the text until the cursor points to the upper right instead of the upper left. You can now click/release and Shift click/release or you can click, drag, release. This will select lines at a time. (This does not work in card view.)
· Move the caret to one end of the section you wish to select. Hold down the SHIFT key and move the caret to the other end of the section you wish to select. The text is now selected.
· Select Edit, Select All in the menu.
· Click on the picture to the left of a paragraph in Outline view.
Usually when you select text, it is to cut or copy it. This is done from the edit menu. Cut and Copy the selected text.
If you perform any action that inserts text, such as typing a letter or pasting text, the selected text will first be deleted. If you move the caret, it will merely de-select the text.
If you change the format type of a paragraph, it will do it to all selected paragraphs.
